Pain / Injury / Rehab
We Believe In Empowerment Through Training.
There’s a lot of nonsense out there when it comes to addressing chronic pain.
A lot of empty promises and fads.
A truckload of confusion.
And a healthcare industry which can severely short change people. Where the incentives of the industry don’t align with yours, and with your recovery. Where caring professionals are hamstrung by out-of-date business models that restrict them from doing what’s needed.
Tim Karajas (Head Coach - Extension Fitness, BSc Physio) saw this from the inside of the Physio industry between 2001-5. It was not a pretty sight. At that time, overservicing was everywhere and understanding of what drives persistent pain was immature.
That’s why Tim is passionate about empowering people experiencing persistent pain to take their life back and work on the things that move the needle.
It’s why he’s a trusted partner to likeminded healthcare professionals who share a person centred approach, and who value high-value, cost-effective, rational and evidence-based care.
There are green shoot of hope and change in the persistent pain space.
More than before, coherent and holistic framework of understanding the issue are emerging.
If you want to use exercise to empower yourself, and as a tool to recover from persistent pain, Tim would be delighted to work with you.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
I have been having personal training at Extension Fitness for just over 4 months. It has been life changing. I am a physio of 20 years and have struggled with chronic back pain and pelvic pain for the last 5 + years. I attended many other physio clinics and rehab/pilates programs over the years with not much lasting success. Since starting with Extension Fitness I am almost entirely pain free. I can run again, have started to play tennis again and I feel younger than I have in years! Thank you so much to the team at Extension Fitness for working with me in a gentle, understanding and compassionate way but also with lots of robust discussion about the science and evidence around movement and injury management. I can not recommend the team highly enough.

Tim has been excellent at understanding my hip issue and helping me get back into exercise and improve mobility. He is straight forward and friendly. Highly recommended his PT services.

I have spent currently the last 3 months working with Tim. After 5 years from fitness & sport due to severe health reasons, Tim's approach to easing me back into strength & conditioning has been a comfortable, knowledgeable & enjoyable experience. His 1-on-1 & programs have been more than suitable, finding improvements in my wellbeing has been a blessing. Tim's lengthy experience & kind approach sets him apart from other PTs & I have worked with a lot over the years.

Took my year 15 year old son to him for gym regime advice (running advice) following recovering from stress fractures to his back.
I was so impressed with Tim. Loved the fact he had taken the time to read all the MRI scans, had a clear treatment plan to assess movement that his back can function in without causing pain and gave him whole body functional strength gym exercises to work on. What 15 year old boy doesn't like going to the gym and improve on the sports he is playing..
Tim explained things very well, connected well with my son and gave us a clear treatment plan.
As a podiatrist I was very impressed and can see myself learning and referring patients to Tim.
Thanks so much Tim!
