Extension Fitness is owned and operated by Tim and Deb Karajas.

Tim Karajas

Tim runs all of our classes and personal training.

Tim and Deb are Perth-born and bred. They live in Perth’s inner northeast and enjoy a full, demanding, laughter-packed life with their three young children.

Tim holds a Cert IV in Fitness and a BSc in Physiotherapy (not currently practicing). He is fitter than your average forty-something and if he were an animal, he’d be a kelpie - i.e. a nightmare to live with if not sufficiently "run". For this reason, Tim has always been into fitness of some form - including basketball, surfing, triathlon, skating and distance running. More recently, he has acquired personal experience in barbell-based strength training and field hockey.

Despite his own intrinsic drive to stay active, Tim understands that not everyone feels the same. He loves helping people for whom exercise is a “chore”… to discover what their body is capable of, enjoy the benefits of increased strength and fitness, and experience the satisfaction of achieving their goals and proving themselves to themselves.

Deb Karajas

Deb runs the Extension Fitness “office”. She manages most things related to bookings, payments and our website.

Unlike Tim, Deb was not historically motivated to exercise or play sport. You could say she’s more king charles cavalier than kelpie! However, in her late 20s she discovered some latent competitiveness and talent for running, and also discovered first-hand the many benefits of a regular exercise habit. Now a little older and a little de-conditioned after the last baby, Deb mostly focuses on strength training to lay a strong foundation for her ‘second half,’ and has also enjoyed playing a season of grass hockey.

Having benefited from Tim’s coaching and guidance herself, Deb loves supporting Tim’s work in helping others to overcome their fitness obstacles and reap the benefits of an active life.

We help you find ways to get the movement you need, and build a long-term exercise habit.

We show you how to fit it in to your busy life and make it fun.

Our priorities are consistency, technique and smart training (not over-training).

We can help you to improve your health through losing fat, and gaining muscle.

We are not believers in rapid fat loss or fad diets.

We think that the status quo in the fitness industry – with its heavy emphasis on “shredded abs” and “beach bodies” – is failing to meet the needs of many clients.

Our emphasis is on health, and what your body can DO - not merely how it looks.
